Hey Steve good video, I drove by this place a couple thousand times but never stopped. I know when You go by during high tide the water comes up on the road which is kinda cool, at least to Me, I don't think the County agrees. Aloha.

  • Papalaua Beach is right along the Hwy. 30 with easy access, so stop and enjoy the calm and clear water. It's easy snorkeling, too. Let me know what you think below.

  • That's an area that doesn't get as much photo exposure. I've been learning that it is one of the few legal places to camp on Maui.
I too drove back and forth past there countless times when I drove a shuttle van picking up tourists from the hotels and taking them to Kahului and then up Haleakala in the early 90s. I would always look at that area and say how nice it would be to stop and enjoy the moment as you say it. I never did.
Now I'm on the mainland. I have not been back to Maui since 1996, however Lord willing, I will be moving back there within a couple of years.
Thank you for the wonderful photographical footage.
