Just got back from Maui, made some beautiful memories with my cancer survivor daughter @ballerinafightr – we stayed in Kahalui and swam at Twin Falls, ate banana bread and shaved ice at Aunty Sandy's, explored the Hana Lava tube cave and enjoyed the caves and beach at Wainapanapa. The next day we Komodo's then hiked the bamboo forest but the 1st water crossing was flowing heavy so we went back to Twin Falls also much heavier than we saw the day before and Ho'okipa, turtles swam right past my kids we were trying to just stay out of their way, we ate lunch at Polli's and headed up Haleakala to the halemauu trail just to the crater and went to the summit for sunset. Woke up the next day and snorkeled molokini crater and turtle town, visited the girl and Boy Scouts office in Wailuku then headed to Maui 2nd Friday in Lahaina, my daughter got a lei making lesson from the friendly folks from the church. The next day we stopped at Ho'okipa, Keanae arboretum, and hiked the left side of Wainapanapa, ate Hulihuli chicken at Koki beach, our kids made friends with their kids and were climbing in the trees, we were sad to leave but headed to the Pipiwai trail and hiked up to the Waimoku Falls, then we kept going all the way around the south side in our mustang convertible (did that on our honeymoon in 2004, the guard rails seem a little more rusty and transparent in places haha) Next we headed over for a night at the Westin in Kaanapali and enjoyed their pool, easy beach access and sunset from our balcony. In the morning the kids got to do the koi feeding and also fed their friendly black swan, they got pictures with tropical birds on their shoulders and had a lot of fun on the Westin slides. We left to an Air BNB near Slappy Cakes and hiked to the Nakalele blowhole, we are saddened to hear of the recent death. We drove toward Kahakuloa and had a delicious burger and the best onion rings at Bruddah Chics I believe it was. We snorkeled Honolua bay (I think we might have just showed up on shore when your snorkeling video trip was re boarding!) and then we did a sunset cruise off kaanapali my son was helping clean the tables and rails, so they let him help lower the sails, then they let him sit in the captains chair and drive the boat! We jumped off Black Rock and did snorkeling, hiked around by the mountain bike park in makawao forest, then went back up Haleakala for another sunset, this time we stayed for the stars and my kids got to see the Milky Way for the first time (damn you light pollution!) on our last day we explored Kihei and Wailea, we made fish at the coconut frond weaving class and stayed for the excellent Polynesian show, I got up and took the hula lesson together with my daughter, then we enjoyed the sunset on our way back to the airport. All that stuff and more. Yup, definitely Aloha Stoked! We had done Maui once before on our honeymoon in 2004 and we experienced so much more that we had just driven past on our previous trip, better than any book. MAHALO for the videos, helped make our vacation a – Nailed it! Hopefully back again in less than 13 years this time
