Kaanapali Beach empty during Quarantine – Maui, Hawaii – April 5, 2020

Drone video of empty Kaanapali Beach in Maui, Hawaii during the COVID-19 quarantine.

The hotels are empty and closed, tourism has been completely halted and anyone flying into the islands has to be quarantined for 14 days at their home or lodging, regardless of tourist or resident.
As part of the Maui County stay-at-home order, people can walk the beach or swim and do other beach activities but they can not sit at the beach or lay out and sunbathe. Everyone at Kaanapali Beach was being respectful of the rules and was either walking or swimming, but no one was sitting around.

Kaanapali Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Maui and is typically always packed with tourists and locals enjoying the great water, amazing snorkeling, and jumping off of black rock. All the catamarans are usually coming in and out and picking up clients at the shore. There’s always people snorkeling and swimming, paddle boarding, or surfing. Black Rock, at the northern tip of the beach, is always a great spot to snorkel and see turtles swimming. It is also a very popular spot for people to dive off of into the water.

Video shot with DJI Mavic Pro Platinum using no filters. Video shot on April 5th at approximately 8:30am.
